Jason Ware

Vice President, Convention Housing & Contracting, SEM&I, Dallas Office

1. Can you describe what you do for MCI?

I oversee the housing operations team as well as the contracting and sourcing team. My team is responsible for the overall housing operations for our clients, primarily our convention clients. The sourcing and contracting efforts within the organization all come through my team. I also manage the national sales relationships with all of our hotel brands.

I’ve been here just shy of three years and truly the best part of working here is the people – my team, the leadership, and our clients.

2. Congrats on recently celebrating being one year cancerfree! What has kept you going strong through your cancer diagnosis and everything else that’s going on in the world

Last year, I was diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgkin’s lymphomaand I beat that cancer in less than five months. I approached that, and everything else in my life, with a positive attitude. I truly believe that you can’t get anywhere in life with a bad attitude.

I think both professionally and personally, my positive attitude has been able to help me in all facets of life. I’ve had so many friends and family tell me that its because of my positivity that I was able to tackle my cancer diagnosis head on.

3. What’s your favorite holiday tradition?

My favorite holiday is Christmas. So, my favorite holiday tradition is decorating my Christmas trees. This year, I have more than ten Christmas trees, each with their own theme. I’ve always loved Christmas ever since I was a kidand I’ve always enjoyed taking the time to decorate and spread cheer.

4. During this season of giving, are there any charities that are near and dear to your heart?

As part of my cancer diagnosis, I got involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). In the past two years, I have raised nearly $30,000 dollars for LLS. I became very passionate about it because I discovered LLS funded the resources that lead to part of my chemo treatment. If they hadn’t done that, I don’t know that I’d be here. I’m very grateful to LLS and very passionate about the organization.

5. What are you most looking forward to next year?

Both in my personal life and professionally, I’m looking forward to meeting in person and getting back to live events. That’s the biggest thing that I’d like to have happen and I can’t wait to see people facetoface again.
