Molly Harter
Sales Coordinator, Sales Solutions & Services
1. What has your experience been like at MCI?
I’m a sales coordinator out of the Baltimore office. I started in June of 2021, and I’ve gotten the chance to work with a bunch of different associations and clients. Last year at this time I was working with completely different people than I am this year, and I love that. It’s fun to bounce around and try new things. I’m grateful to my managers for supporting that and teaching me a lot. I’m constantly jumping around to new clients, which is amazing because I get to develop new skills and meet new people.
2. What did you do before you started at MCI?
I graduated college in May of 2020 at the height of the pandemic, and I moved back home because of COVID. While I was in college, I worked at a newspaper on the advertising side of things and post-college, when I was job-hunting, I worked at a school as a substitute teacher, and I literally had job interviews in the parking lot during my breaks!
I moved to Baltimore right as I was starting this job, and it was intimidating because I didn’t know anyone other than my coworkers. I’m grateful that we soon got a great new office, and I’m able to connect with everyone in person now.
3. Why did you want to get into sales?
My dad is in pharmaceutical sales, and he has always told me I’m like him in that I like to talk to people and form relationships, and I did a lot of that in college. I look at sales like a big group project, which I love. I really enjoy collaborating with others.
I’m not selling directly in my role here MCI, but I’m offering support to the process. Someone once described my job as being the glue that holds everything together, which is kind of my role at home in a big family, so I’m comfortable here.
4. What are you doing over the holiday break?
I’m going home to Arkansas to spend time with my family. We keep pretty busy during the holidays! We’re a big game family so there will be a lot of board games played the whole time. We always make time to bake ginger cookies and go see our town’s light display, and we have a Secret Santa gift exchange with my siblings and brother-in-law. Another annual tradition we have is hosting a Christmas party at my house on the 23rd every year. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family!
5. What else do you like to do for fun outside of work?
I’m a big movie person, so I love to go to the movies. I watch every tv show known to man. I’m a sports fan, love to watch hockey and football either on screen or in person. I spend a lot of time on Twitter. Pretty much, if it’s on a screen, I enjoy it!
I’m a big Timothée Chalamet fan, so I really like Dune and Little Women, but honestly, I could watch anything – rom-coms, horror, action movies, I love it all!
