No, the MCI USA employees you saw wearing orange vests and picking up litter near the McLean, Virginia, office weren’t participating as extras in a new episode of Orange is the New Black – they were doing their part to keep our neighborhood free of trash.
The McLean office participates in Virginia’s Adopt-A-Highway program, under which we agree to pick up litter twice each year along a half-mile stretch of a nearby road, Westpark Drive. On May 14, we conducted our first trash pickup of 2021, filling half a garbage bag with litter ranging from cigarette butts to soda cans and beer bottles to a pair of discarded windshield wipers. Afterward, we gathered for a group photo around the Adopt-A-Highway sign recognizing our involvement, then walked back to the office building for a “happy hour” organized by the Recognition Committee on the upper deck of the parking garage.
MCI USA’s involvement in the Adopt-A-Highway Program dates back to Dream Day 2017 and has now become part of our corporate identity. Thanks all MCI USA staff in the McLean office who have participated in the trash pick-ups.
