Cate David
Sales Account Executive, SS&S, Baltimore Office
1. You just started at MCI USA, what led you to accept this job?
Yes, I just started in June. So far it has been great! I used to work for a general service contractor on trade show and custom exhibit production, but I knew several people at MCI USA, and they always talked about how much they loved it and how supportive the environment was.
I accepted my position on the SS&S team selling exhibit space and sponsorship and so far, I have to agree with them – everyone here has been very nice and very supportive.
2. What do you like best so far about working here?
I’m so excited to be here working in live events again and working with wonderful people. 2020 was rough for the industry as a whole, but I’m looking forward to being back and seeing it thriving again. I feel like I really have a great team, and we’re going to do some great things. Everyone that I’ve met so far has been so kind and passionate about what they do.
3. Do you feel like you’ve been able to connect with your team remotely?
It’s definitely a unique experience starting a new job remotely, but I feel that it’s gone well, and I still feel connected to my team. We’ve been able to have happy hours and group lunches, so I’ve gotten to meet people in person. I’ll be in the Baltimore office once it reopens, and I can’t wait to see everyone face-to-face.
4. What’s something your coworkers would be surprised to learn about you?
I went to boarding school when I was a kid. I loved it. It was in Middleburg, Virginia, which was about eight hours away from my home in Ohio.
5. Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
My husband and I are not originally from Baltimore, so we love to go out and explore. Baltimore is a great food city, and we love to try new restaurants.
