People & Culture Updates
from Angela Fiorini, Vice President, People & Culture
Initial Thoughts on MCI USA’s Benefits Survey
First, thank you for participating! We had 198 participants, which is a 70% response rate. This is fantastic! I really appreciate your engagement on this important topic!
Congratulations to the following talents who are the lucky recipients of a $50 VISA Gift Card for participating!
Heather Allan, Iowa
Alan Goldfeder, Hunt Valley
Stephanie Jacobs, Dallas
Danielle Kirchner, New York
LaTrese Wallace, McLean
What were our objectives?
- Listen to you
- Understand your current level of satisfaction with our benefits
- Learn what we can do to better meet the needs of our talents and their families
- Use the information learned to potentially make improvements in our benefits, where possible, without increasing costs
Here are some highlights:
- 64% of participants are satisfied or extremely satisfied with our benefits overall
- 42% believe our benefits are better than other organizations
When asked if you are generally satisfied with the following benefits, here’s the percentage who said yes:
- 68% Health Insurance
- 70% Dental Insurance
- 61% Vision/Hearing Insurance
- 86% Basic Life Insurance
- 71% Short & Long Term Disability
Most Popular Voluntary Benefits: When we asked: would you be interested in any of the following voluntary benefits at a low monthly cost? The two most popular responses:
- 51% Wellness/Nutrition Programs
- 41% Financial Wellness
What surprised me?
13% of our Talents believe they are not enrolled in Basic Life Insurance, but this is 100% paid by MCI! Currently, all Talents (scheduled to work 28 hours or more per week) are covered for $100,000 in Basic Life Insurance.
26% of our Talents believe they are not enrolled in Short & Long Term Disability, but this is 100% paid by MCI! Currently, all Talents (scheduled to work 28 hours or more per week) are covered for both Short and Long Term Disability.
Please let the People & Culture Team know if you have questions about these benefits. Alternatively, the summary information for each benefit can be found in Paycom under Current Benefits, and for each benefit, you can click the “page” symbol and see the summary document.
Communications
Our feedback indicates mixed reviews on communication of benefits. Our talents have different preferences on how they want to receive information and we need to adapt to the multiple preferences. In addition, there is a lot of detailed information which really does require your attention.
We can improve our communication at all stages from new hires to long tenured talents, and will communicate more frequently as well. We want you to understand your benefits, how the plans work, and how you can be a better consumer.
Look for improvements in the coming months and the new Plan Year; this will be an important objective. And please don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions!
Becoming Parents through Birth or Adoption
I also learned from comments in the Benefits Survey that our Talents do not have a good understanding of Leave and Pay related to becoming a Parent—through birth or adoption.
Let me give you the basics on this complicated topic. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the People & Culture Team for more details. In addition, more details are included in the Talent Handbook which is posted on Paycom. This is just a brief overview, there are eligibility requirements for each type of leave or benefits.
New Moms—Birth
New Moms are eligible for: (a) 12 days parental leave paid at your full salary by MCI, (b) short term disability coverage paid by MCI through Lincoln Financial which generally provides salary replacement at 66.67% of salary for 6 weeks for a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks for a C-section, (c) 12 weeks unpaid Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), and (d) accrued PTO. We also have a Health and Wellness Room in each office of 50 or more talents (Dallas, Hunt Valley and McLean) which has private, dedicated lactation space.
New Parents—Adoption
New parents are eligible for: (a) 12 days parental leave paid at your full salary by MCI, (b) 12 weeks unpaid Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), and (c) accrued PTO.
New Dads—Birth or Adoption
New Dads are eligible for: (a) 12 days parental leave paid at your full salary by MCI, (b) 12 weeks unpaid Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), and (c) accrued PTO.
Conclusion
I’m happy to share more information from the survey in the next few months. As you can see by our interest in your feedback and my response in this communication, your feedback matters to us! Thank you again for participating.
We are definitely taking into account what we have learned in the planning for the October 2018 new plan year. Thank you!
Operations Updates
from Michele Jerome, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Operations
As noted in our recent One MCI USA webinar, please take five minutes to review and complete the attached instructions for registering for password reset. Registering for this service will allow you to reset your own MCI password in the event that you forget it or it expires. These steps must be completed before you can attempt to use the password reset.
Please note that MCI will email staff notices when password expiration is close. These alerts look like the following email:
Hello Firstname Lastname (Login: mci\firstname.lastname),
Your password for Windows 8.1/10 and Office 365 (the ‘MCIGROUP.LAN’-password) is about to expire in 14 days. The last update of your password occured on 03/24/2018 22:07:11.
Please consider changing it at your earliest convenience, so your account does not get locked.
You can change your password with any of these methods:
- On your Windows 8.1/10 machine, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select ‘Change a password’.
(This works only from within the MCI network or on DirectAccess-enabled machines.)
OR- Visit MCI’s Change-Password-Service-Website. The first field should read firstname.lastname@mci-group.com
(This works from inside and outside of the MCI network. Please note that you will need your old password to log into your computer, until your back in the MCI network.)Best regards
Your Group Technology Department
Tips Related to Changing Passwords
- If you need assistance in resetting your password, please call the Tier 1 Help Desk at 1-571-366-3143.
- Remember… when you update the password, you will need to update it on any mobile device you use to access email.
- If you normally work from the Washington Office, it is easiest to change the password while in the office from your workstation. I highly recommend changing the password ahead of any travel if it nearing expiration. If you change the password outside of the office and you have a MCI USA laptop you will continue to login to the laptop with the old password until you are in the office next. The laptop will not get the updated login information until you are on the network within the Washington office.
