Every year during July, talents in MCI offices across the globe celebrate MCI Dream Day in creative, meaningful ways. Read on to find out how each MCI USA office put together their own unique event to encourage big thinking, giving back, and building community.
Miami Team Supported Jackson Memorial Pediatric Center
Black Flower Agency’s Miami team aligned with Jackson Memorial Pediatric Center, a support facility that is a part of Miami’s Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care program and offers an alternative to at-home caregiving so young patients between the ages of 3-8 can socialize with other children diagnosed with similar medical ailments and physical limitations. The Miami team helped kids with a culinary art project thematic to their current studies, which involved making edible “dirt cups” from crushed cookies, pudding, and gummy worms. After the project’s completion, the agency staff assisted with playground activities and lunch service.
Dallas Team Helped Local Kids Get Ready for Back to School
For Dream Day this year, the Plano-based SEM&I team supported local children in South Dallas in need of school supplies. MCI provided 264 backpacks, and our wonderful team of talents donated supplies. They assembled the backpacks/supplies and, in between shifts, enjoyed a pizza/soda/cookie lunch. At the end of the day, the team met for a refreshing beverage to celebrate the team and its efforts. It was a fun day while serving local children.
New York Team Prepped Meals for People Living With Illnesses
Black Flower Agency’s New York City team donated their time to God’s Love We Deliver, an organization with the mission to improve the health and well-being of men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. The center prepares and delivers high-quality meals and provides nutritional education and counseling for its clients, families, care providers, and other service organizations. The NYC talents participated in a full morning of meal preparation that involved the cleaning of produce, cutting vegetables, and assembling meals in travel safe containers.
Baltimore Team Got Creative with Local Youth
On July 19th, fourteen talents drove to Art with a Heart’s beautiful space on Falls Road in Baltimore. This organization is a non-profit that provides engaging, educational, and interactive visual arts classes to underserved Baltimore area youth. Their mission is to enhance the lives of people in need through visual art. They spent the morning working alongside youth completing art projects. They worked on sculpting clay vases in the shapes of the row houses endemic to Baltimore, cutting glass for future projects, and helping to design large mosaic mirrors that will live at the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore. It was good creative fun with an organization doing important work in Baltimore!
