What’s a secret to your success? We’re asking MCI talents to share tips and tools they use to do their jobs better, be more efficient, and continuously learn.
Erin Fuller, Chief Strategy Officer, shared some of her favorite tools:
Clever Fox planner – I really like the goal setting exercises at the front, the fact that it isn’t dated, and my ability to track personal and professional habits, goals and see how I am doing on life balance. Plus, it comes in 18 colors. I have used both the weekly and daily versions – currently preferring the daily (on my fifth one of these and have gifted them to many people on my team over the years!)
Pomodoro Timer – the Pomodoro Technique is used by professional writers, but I use it for project management. It is a timer that I can set for 10, 30, 50, or 60 minutes and forces me to focus on working on one thing for that amount of time. The approach is that you can either: stop working when you hit the time set, or keep working if you are in the groove. I try to “eat the frog” in terms of tackling challenging projects at the beginning of the day, and this helps me do that.
Better Than Before: I read Atomic Habits, and like this book even better as it focuses not just on “the best” way to form new habits, but how different personality preferences may drive how to best create them. As a parent, it is helpful for me to remember that my approach may not be the right one for my kids. (I say this after listing things that completely support my own habit preferences.)
