Earlier this year, the American Health Quality Association (AHQA) conceptualized and advocated for legislation that would provide funding for the Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) to provide education/technical assistance to outlier prescribers of opioids about better prescribing practices across the country. On October 24, H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, was signed into law by the President and it includes the provision of $75Million dollars for this work. MCI USA AVP and AHQA Executive Director Alison Teitelbaum told us, “AHQA scored a tremendous win for its members through this bill, but it will also, hopefully, save the lives of many, many people impacted by the opioid epidemic.”
