Yes, I know, everyday should be Kindness Day. But let’s face it, stress over the upcoming holidays, traffic, overscheduling, and the nightly news all combine to make it all too easy to lose patience and be rude to others. Maybe we do need a day to focus on the importance of niceness.
There are mental and physical benefits to kindness, too. Dr. David R. Hamilton has found that kindness makes us happier, improves heart health, slows aging, builds better relationships and, best of all, it’s contagious!
Kindness doesn’t have to be a big, grand gesture. It is often the small things – holding a door, letting someone go first, waving to your neighbor, inviting someone to eat lunch with you – that can make a difference in someone’s day. And don’t forget to be kind to yourself, too. In the graphic below Random Acts of Kindness offers seven simple ways you can start making kindness the norm.
