Sami Baron

Education Coordinator, Association Solutions, Chicago Office

1. Can you tell us more about your role at MCI USA?

As the Education Coordinator for four association clients, I focus on providing our members with both digital and in-person educational opportunities. My responsibilities range from speaker management and course development, to member support and credentialing.

2. The ISA Annual Conference, Assets 2020, has shifted to online educational sessions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Could you describe your involvement with Assets @ Home and your experience transitioning an in-person conference to a virtual series in a matter of weeks?

When ISA’s 2020 Annual Conference (Assets) was canceled due to COVID-19, we did not want all of the hard work and awesome sessions planned to go to waste. The ISA team worked collaboratively with the board and the conference planning committee to repurpose this content into an on-demand e-learning opportunity. I was able to work directly with our speakers to help them adapt their presentations to this format. With a lot of help from the rest of the ISA team and our supportive committee members, we were able to package this into a bundle, allowing our members to access this content from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

3. What is your favorite part about your job?

I am a people-person who thrives interacting with people and helping solve problems. In my job, I get to put out fires every day, and collaborate with awesome team members to navigate through issues.

4. What has been your favorite quarantined activity and why?

During quarantine, I have been doing a lot of baking, reading, and going on nice long walks. Anything that allows for a little distraction definitely brightens my day.

5. What’s something your coworkers would be surprised to learn about you?

My husband’s name is Sam, so yes…we have the same name!
