Senior Manager of Events Lauren Stroud has been a key player in MCI USA’s SEM&I division for the past five years, leading event logistics for a variety of association clients. Based in Detroit, she collaborates closely with teams across registration, housing, marketing and more to ensure efficient event execution. Always tuned into industry trends, Lauren is passionate about understanding how global events shape decision-making in the event space. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, keeping up with the latest shows and avoiding birds — despite having a tattoo featuring them.
Who has been your biggest influence, personally and professionally?
Personally, my family and friends fill my life with energy, adventure and inspiration. They keep things joyful, and I strive to be half as cool as they are! Professionally, I’m grateful to work with an incredible SEM&I team — Elisa, Ashleigh, Kelsey, Kate, Sierra and others — who are brilliant at what they do. I’m lucky to learn from them daily.
What industry trends or technologies are you keeping an eye on?
I’m exploring how global events impact our industry (post-COVID trends, inflation, sports, politics and more) and how that influences my clients’ choices in venues, vendors, F&B, transportation and lodging. Understanding these connections helps me make the best recommendations.
What’s been your favorite memory at MCI USA?
The 2023 holiday party was chef’s kiss! We had a blast, and SEM&I shut down the dance floor!
What’s something surprising that not many people know about you?
I don’t know if this has a shock factor, but I’m afraid of birds. I have a tattoo that includes them because I love what they can symbolize. But in real life, please keep me away from the pigeons!
What are you currently watching, reading or listening to?
I’m watching “Paradise” on Hulu, “Severance” on Apple TV and “Gossip Girl” on Netflix.
