More than 30 MCI talents representing 8 countries convened at Music City Center in Nashville, TN, in August 20 – 23 for the 2022 ASAE Annual Meeting. In true MCI fashion, we got the business done, and found plenty of time for next-level networking and fun! A few MCI highlights included:

MCI’s newly designed booth – “ENGAGE” – served as the hub and exploration lab for the launch of the MCI 2022 Association Engagement Index. This powerful new tool allows associations to measure the strength of the relationships they have with their members and compare their association’s measurement against others. Booth visitors were able to sign up on-site to participate in the Engagement Index and also had the opportunity to enter a raffle drawing to win a Yeti® backpack cooler. Attendees and talents were thrilled to stay hydrated and enjoy customized flavored water from the Bevi® water cooler.

Carly Heideger, Sales Manager, SS&S, presented the session “Sustaining Sustainability: The Road to Carbon Neutral Events.” Carly discussed best practices for collaborating with vendor partners, exhibitors, sponsors, and carbon offset providers. Attendees also learned how to evaluate programs for sponsorships, trade, and partnerships with carbon offset providers.

Jemilah Senter, VP, Marketing & Communications, Association Solutions, and Jamie Hart Birkner, Director, Content & Marketing Strategy, Association Solutions, presented on impactful marketing initiatives during their session, “Small Budget, Big Impact: Affordable Ways to Level-Up Marketing.” The two showcased real campaigns—and their results—and highlighted some of the tools and techniques that helped these low-cost campaigns generate high-impact returns.

Jemilah Senter, VP, Marketing & Communications, Association Solutions and Brianne Wheeler, Head of Marketing at industry partner, Prop Fuel led an insightful session “Your Members Are Individuals, Not Just a Demographic.” The session delved into the parallels between an association’s value and the unique and changing dynamics of member needs with a focus on meeting members where they are, in near real time.

Joe Lindahl, MA, CAE, Senior Associate, Association Solutions, was recognized as one of twelve scholars selected by the American Society of Associations Executives to participate in the 2022-2024 Diversity Executive Leadership Program. The Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) is a two-year program that supports individuals from under-represented identity groups to advance into the ranks of leadership in the association management profession.

Parties, receptions, and making connections—some of the greatest outcomes of MCI’s participation in ASAE’s annual meeting are the bonds and relationships that are built and strengthened between our own talents and with our clients and partners. From the opening reception featuring Little Big Town to the Classic starring Wendy Moten and Phil Vasser, the incredible music was alive and roaring throughout the music city.
