National Hispanic Heritage Month began on 9/15 and is celebrated through 10/15. This significant time is to recognize Latin Independence Day (declared in 1821) for five Hispanic countries – Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. The contributions of the Latin American people and how they contribute to the American workforce – unions were started in Cali from the farm laborers, workplace safety, and minimum wages.
