Building community here at MCI Baltimore is something we take to heart. The Quality Assurance department (QA) provides support and works with the Sales team to ensure that we are providing the best possible quality of service to our advertisers and association clients. We are the “checkers and the balancers” of Sales Solutions & Services.

In 2014 we added a Guest Speaker segment to our weekly QA meetings. On a monthly basis we invite a talent from another department in our office to join us and talk about themselves. Who doesn’t love doing that, right?! Guests usually share their background, an overview of their time at MCI, and a few personal notes. This unique feature of our department, introduced by QA management, has become something we all look forward to. We always learn something interesting about our colleagues or something new about a different department. We make connections and have “aha!” moments. Taking the time to learn a bit about each other, and how what we each have to offer fits into and benefits MCI, has been a great addition to our sense of community. It is part of what makes our office have a genuine family feel.

There is a question we ask every guest: “Do you like Bon Jovi?” A lot of people like Bon Jovi!

Here are some fun facts we’ve learned.

We have a talent who:

  • is truly talented and plays the drums and guitar in two bands
  • met Justin Timberlake and had a hilarious encounter with Cal Ripken (not on the same day)
  • reads 2-3 books a week
  • has a 250-pound pet pig who does tricks (the pig, not the talent)
