Sustainability Champions Spotlight: Post-Holiday Community Service

As the holiday season winds down, the need for support in our communities continues to grow. Post-holiday months are a critical time for shelters, food banks, and nonprofit organizations as resources run low and demand remains high, making this an ideal moment for meaningful action.

Ways to Engage

  • 🤝 Volunteer locally with a shelter, food bank, or community organization.
  • 🧥 Donate winter clothing, food, or essential items.
  • ⏱ Use your volunteer time off (VTO) to give back during work hours.
  • 💬 Share volunteer opportunities or causes with your team.

Did You Know?
Full-time talents receive eight hours of paid VTO per year, and part-time talents (20-plus hours a week) receive four hours.

MCI Sustainability Pillar Highlight: Community Service

Community service is a cornerstone of MCI USA’s sustainability commitment. It strengthens social well-being, supports vulnerable populations, and helps build resilient communities where we live and work.

What’s happening at MCI USA:

  • Our nationwide footprint allows us to support communities locally while making a collective impact
  • The volunteer time off (VTO) program empowers talents to volunteer with purpose

Optional Monthly Challenge

Give Back Challenge: Volunteer for at least one hour this month or support a local cause and encourage a colleague to join you. Create your own team-based volunteer activity using your VTO, and we will share it as a company spotlight!

Observance Highlight

The purpose of World Religion Day is to recognize the diversity of religions worldwide and to promote understanding and unity among the different faiths that make up the global community.

It was established in 1950 and has been celebrated by communities around the world ever since. This special day shows that people of any faith can come together to work toward a greater understanding and make a positive difference in the world.

Fun fact: 🌍 There are over 4,000 recognized religions worldwide. For those who love to cook, celebrate by cooking a traditional meal from a different religion. Here is a site that includes plenty of tasty recipes: Traditional Dishes from Around the World.

Let’s show our worldwide branches love by cooking some of their local dishes!
