1. What initially drew you to a career in finance?
I was always a numbers girl growing up. I started college in engineering and quickly learned it wasn’t for me, so I switched to business school. Turns out, I was really good with debits and credits, so I decided to stay the course!
2. What’s one financial principle or habit you think everyone should know?
I recommend getting at least one reliable credit card that accrues points. Put all your spending on it and pay off your balance in full every month. You’ll get fun perks and it’s a good way to protect your cash. If you don’t have one already, you’ll thank me later! If you travel frequently, don’t sleep on the cards with lounge access. It’s game changing.
3. What’s the most valuable feedback you’ve ever received from a colleague or mentor?
The best solutions are usually the most obvious solutions — try to keep things simple.
4. What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?
My education. I got a full-ride scholarship for my undergraduate degree, a master’s degree in accounting and my CPA licensure.
5. What’s something surprising that not many people know about you?
I listen to Thievery Corporation, house and techno music all day between meetings. It’s excellent background music for accounting!
