A spotlight on Disability Pride Month
July is a chance to pause, learn and show up for one another. Inclusion is not just a value on a wall. It is something we build every single day, together. This month, we want to do just that.
What is Disability Pride Month?
Disability Pride Month is celebrated every July, tracing back to the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the disabled community, push back against stigma and recommit to building spaces where everyone belongs. At MCI, that means thinking about how we show up in our meetings, our documents and our day-to-day interactions with one another.
How you can get involved
1. Take part in a Disability Pride learning activity. Spend a little time learning about disability experiences and what building a truly accessible workplace looks like in practice.
2. Share one accessibility habit you want to build. Adding captions to a video, sending agendas before meetings, using alt text. Every small habit adds up to a more welcoming workplace for everyone.
3. Think about how we can do better as a team. What is one thing your team could change to be more accessible and inclusive? Share it, talk about it and take a small step toward making it happen.
